Stopovers enroute to and from Finland

After we arrive in Gothenburg from Newcastle, we travel East to Jönkoping, where we'll stay overnight on our way to Stockholm for our second ferry. We're going to stay in

The Scandic Hotel, Jönkoping (pool shown above) where we hope to have a restful night before heading further North East the next day.


On the way home, after arriving at Stockholm early morning from Helsinki, we drive South West across Sweden, arriving in Gothenburg again in the late afternoon, where we'll stay overnight at

The Scandic, Molndal

before catching our early morning ferry back to Newcastle in the UK.


One interesting point about the Scandic Hotel chain (and possibly others in Sweden) is that their rates are very reasonable if you book ahead a few weeks on what they call the "Early Book" rate. We have family rooms, with 4 beds, and with eat-all-you-can buffet breakfasts included for the very modest sum of £49 in Jönkoping, and £57 in Gothenburg. Worth checking out!
