What started off as an idea to drive from Dunbar, near Edinburgh in the UK, to St Petersburg in Russia, to stay with my wife Anna's parents, metamorphosed into a driving holiday to south-east Finland,(Kotka, to be exact) where Anna's family met up with us all. There were a few unexpected hurdles along the way, but all-in-all, it was a brilliant holiday, as you can read about.
Thanks to Michelin's online mapping site, here , I have worked out that the total driving distance from our house in Dunbar, to the Santalahti Holiday Centre in Finland, via Sweden is 467 miles! (The breakdown of that is 91 miles from Dunbar to Newcastle ferry terminal, 292 miles from Gothenburg to Stockholm, and 84 miles from Helsinki to Kotka)
